Based in Bristol, Emma has been making and selling ceramics after work for over twenty years since an art Foundation at the UWE and Evening class at Bristol School of Art. She now supplies work to several galleries around the UK such as Cambridge Contemporary Craft, Rostra Gallery Bath, Castle Gallery Inverness, Baxters Gallery in Dartmouth and several others. She has exhibited at art fairs including Fresh Cheltenham and The Affordable Art Fair and taken part in a group show organised by Falkirk City Council and the Graham Hunter Gallery on Baker St, London.

Her work has been bought by collectors in the UK and many other countries including Japan, Alaska, Mexico, USA, Korea, China, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. The work is all hand sculpted from clay, often with details painted in underglaze before other Earthenware glazes are added.

She is very influenced by the environment and nature, often Polar Bears in particular. Inspired by folk ark, ancient talismen also the Japanese idea of Kawaii and it's acceptance into the high end art world led by artists such as Yoshitomo Nara.

“Ceramics lend themselves to the tactile, comforting presence of a piece of art in our personal space, the glazes accentuating the mark making and surface pattern detail. to create a tangible connection with the viewer.”

“This piece was made after watching a documentary about the melting ice-caps which showed bears having to swim and hunt (often unsuccessfully) as their usual hunting grounds - the ice, has melted. The unlikely pairing of the bear and the tropical toucan is whimsical but prompts questions about a future with animals from different climates sharing a habitat due to global warming.”
