Rachel’s stoneware ceramics are intended for everyday use, to enhance the rituals of morning tea, coffee and shared meals.

Rachel originally studied Textile Design at Chelsea College of Art and then for an MA at UCA Farnham and much of the inspiration for her work comes from fine art and textiles.

Her work blends the techniques of studio pottery with a contemporary fresh edge, combining the natural qualities of the clay with clean colours and simple decoration, using simple brush marks to enhance the forms.

Making and using ceramics is a tactile experience and for Rachel throwing pots on the wheel is about creating forms and curves that feel right in the hands as well as to the eye. The texture and brushstrokes of the glaze, the weight of the pot and the marks of the making process all combine in the finished piece.

Each piece is thrown on the wheel and fired in an electric kiln. Care info for work: suitable for dishwasher use but hand washing is always recommended for best care, take care when stacking ceramic items and avoid thermal shock damage due to moving between extremes of high and low temperatures.
