Rachel Carpenter is a full time potter working from a shared studio in SW London.

She loves to make tableware to be used - mugs, platters and bowls; often experimenting with texture and surface pattern using slips (coloured liquid clay) and incorporating printing techniques such as paper stencils and resist. Her tableware is either thrown on the potters wheel or hand built using stoneware clay and glazes.

When she’s not in the studio or teaching, she likes to make delicate jewellery and porcelain hanging decorations, for celebrations such as Christmas and Easter, at the kitchen table. These are glazed and sometimes finished with gold/silver leaf or even smoke fired in a dustbin in her garden!
