Melissa is a printmaker living in Cambridge, working under the artist’s name Meliprints. She studied applied arts and visual design in France and discovered printmaking during a year spent in the U.S. Since moving to England, she has been focusing more specifically on creating original linocut prints, using traditional printmaking techniques. She works in an illustrative style using vibrant colours and strong contrast to create scenes of daily life and nocturnal atmosphere. While people are often a key element in her compositions, she is getting inspiration from communities and places that are familiar to her.
Due to the nature of this artistic printing process, each print is unique. They are numbered and signed by the artist as part of a limited edition. Meliprints uses a safe and non‐toxic alternative to traditional inks: Caligo safe wash relief ink (oil‐based inks that can be washed away with liquid soap and water, without the need for harmful solvents)
Meliprints wraps her prints with Nativia® bio‐based film (biodegradable and recyclable). A new generation of compostable film made from renewable resources ‐ PLA polylactic acid bio‐based (corn or other starch/sugar source resins).
