Cathy uses the ancient techniques of chasing and repoussé to create elegant botanical jewellery designs. Inspired by elements of the natural world, Cathy creates wonderful textures in silver and gold by capturing the swirls of crashing waves, ripples of flowing rivers or intricate details of flowers in bloom. The natural world is reflected in her organic silver forms which have been put through rounds of hammering with steel punches – these hammer marks remain, showing the making process and to create branching patterns on the surface of the metal. The contours are often highlighted with details of gold or set with precious-coloured gemstones. Cathy has a passion for the techniques she uses, and every piece is created by hand using traditional skills at her workshop in Sheffield.
