Caitlin Bowbeer is a self-taught potter from the West Coast of Scotland who currently works from a small studio in Edinburgh. With a background in Illustration and Graphic Design, she combines these practices to create contemporary pieces that are minimal and functional, whilst often taking on characterful forms or illustrative elements. Although she began with wheel-thrown forms at the beginning of her ceramic career, the lockdown in 2020 led her to a slower way of working, creating designs for larger, hand-built pieces whilst access to her studio and wheel were restricted. Since then, Caitlin's most recent works focus on experimenting with clay combinations and neutral tones glazes, creating earth-tone collections that focus on form, function and surface decoration, using both wheel-thrown and hand built techniques.
